Stephen Tobolowsky, director Robert Brinkman and Tobolowsky's wife, Ann, and I all went out to an equestrian center that was located somewhere in the northern part of the San Fernando Valley. Tobolowsky owns several Icelandic horses (including the one shown here) and thought that it might make for a more interesting photo shoot to somehow utilize the horses. I instantly said yes. Then reality set in. I am deathly afraid of horses and, DMX photo shoots aside, I realized that simply having animals in the pictures doesn't necessarily making them more interesting. This photo is one of my favorites from the shoot, taken during a down moment when Tobolowsky happened to be canoodling with the horse. When I saw him doing this, I was instantly reminded of that famous photo from March of the Penguins. Since I was shooting into the sun and Tobolowsky and the horse both moved half a second after I got this photo, I asked him to attempt to recreate the moment. So help me, we tried, but we never came close to capturing that first moment again.
