James Woods is still a stud -- even after his performance here in Another Day in Paradise. Mel (Woods) is a professional thief who drives a Cadillacóthe extent of his character's character developmentówho has a junkie girlfriend, Sid (Melanie Griffith), and a sort of thief intern in the form of Bobbie (Vincent Kartheiser). Together, with Bobbie's girlfriend, Rosie (Natasha Gregson-Wagner), the four steal things. The main problem with this film stems from its lack of perceptual energy and direction. Helmed by the director of the similarly directionless Kids, Larry Clark, I can't say that I was all that surprised to learn that Another Day in Paradise's plotline was non-existent, but I sure was surprised at the sheer number of scenes taking place in Mel's Cadillac though.
