[PHOTO]> Movies like Austin Powers seem to be made for two reasons, 1) so lots of people will go out and see them and laugh, and 2) to completely baffle and confuse movie reviewers. When I'm stuck on a review, I'm man (person) enough to admit it, and I've been puzzling about this one since I saw it.
How can anyone write anything remotely intelligent sounding about a movie whose plot revolves around a British secret service agent who was cryogenically frozen in 1967 and is thawed out in 1997 to stop a evil mastermind aptly named, gulp, Dr. Evil?
The statement Is this film funny? An emphatic "hell yes," but how does one convey this to a reader? Should I tell of the scene where Austin is asked if he still goes by the name of Danger Powers, to which he replies, "No, Danger is my middle name."

Or the tremendously funny idea that Dr. Evil and his son, Scott Evil, take time out from trying to rule the world to attend family therapy in an effort to improve their strained relationship?

[PHOTO]> I'm not sure.
One thing that is for sure is that Myers' script pulls no comic punches. He attacks the James Bond films full strength, darting here and there, making fun of all that he can lay his hands on in a refreshingly clever manner. Leaving no stone unturned, Myers takes on the almost cartoonish Bond women by creating an Italian beauty, Alotta Fagina, with the wonderfully politically correct name that would make even Pussy Galore blush.
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery with all its birds and minxes is a wonderful antidote to big budget action adventures and depressing dramas. For once, I can't wait to see the sequel.
