Depending on how you look at it, The Big Brass Ring is either A) a breath of fresh air, or B) proof that Hollywood has officially run out of talent... and isn't afraid to admit it.

Based off of a screenplay written by Orson Welles, a man who has been dead for fifteen years, The Big Brass Ring tells the story behind the campaign of Missouri gubernatorial candidate, Blake Pellerin (William Hurt). As is the case with most well-known politicians running for office, an old acquaintance of Pellarin's father, Kim Mennaker (Nigel Hawthorne) surfaces and threatens to reveal several large skeletons Pellarin had been hiding in his walk-in closet. Crafty, tight and with an air of deceit emminating throughout all of Pellarin and Mennaker's actions, The Big Brass Ring was, like the Welles films of old, most notably The Third Man and Citizen Kane, a film that was very interested in investigating unusual emotions and situations.
