Starring Melissa Joan Hart, Adrian Grenier, et al. Released to DVD on March 14, 2000.
For the life of me, I can't understand why I enjoyed this movie as much as I did. On the surface it seemed just like another superfluous teen flick like She's All That and Varsity Blues. However, after only several minutes of viewing this film, I found myself captivated by Drive Me Crazy. I think the great majority of the entertainment value of Drive Me Crazy comes from the sweet relationship and good-natured sensibility of the two leads, Nicole Maris (Melissa Joan Hart) and Chase Hammond (Adrian Grenier). When Maris is not asked to the prom by heartthrob Brad (Gabriel Carpenter), the worst star basketball player in history, she turns to her next door neighbor, Hammond, to help her make Brad jealous, instantly falling for Hammond. Grenier and Hart are disarmingly cute in their roles, and both actors actually look as if they are in high school, a nice bonus (word to the wise, Jason Priestley). With a great soundtrack courtesy of The Donna's, Drive Me Crazy rocks the casbah.
