Once a particular style of filmmaking has been seen several times-most often because it sells at the box office-it becomes somewhat formulaic... or "classic" as the studio executives would say. Riddled with cliches, twists an experienced audience could coming fifteen miles away and a killer who I, personally, figured out when I saw that actor's name in the opening credits, I found The General's Daughter to be a below average movie. However, for the majority of viewers out there who don't know the difference between a 'swish pan' and a 'wipe', The General's Daughter seemed like it would be a good mystery. John Travolta and Madeleine Stowe star as Paul Brenner and Sara Sunhill, a divorced couple assigned to investigate the strange circumstances surrounding the death of a prominent United States Army general's daughter. You may or may not enjoy this film, all I know is that I didn't.
