Starring George Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, et al. Released to DVD on January 5, 1999.

During the late '90's, author Elmore Leonard's novels (Rum Punch/Jackie Brown, Get Shorty) have been some of the most popular books to adapt to the silver screen. Continuing this trend is Steven Soderbergh's film Out of Sight. Presented in a slightly non-linear fashion, George Clooney stars here as Jack Foley, a likable, engaging and extraordinarily good looking bank robber who is serving time in jail. Tunneling out of prison with his cellmate Buddy Bragg (Ving Rhames), Jack bumps into US Marshal Karen Sisco (Jennifer Lopez), who just happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. This situation gives rise to one of the most erotic and sensual scenes of the year, as Jack kidnaps Karen and huddles with her in the trunk of Buddy's escape car. Soderbergh has created a very stylish movie in Out of Sight, with a tremendous cast including Steve Zahn, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Albert Brooks, Dennis Farina, Catherine Keener, Isaiah Washington and Don Cheadle. The chemistry between Clooney and Lopez is fabulous, but something is missing from this film--a substantial ending for one. However, even this can't take away from the unusual and captivating nature of this film. This was distinctly original.
