Make your jokes about the failed silver screen attempts of the Friends' stars while you can, because, based on the results of Three to Tango and The Whole Nine Yards, it appears that Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing) is carving himself a niche in the world of light, cute, slapstick comedies. Perry stars here, opposite Bruce Willis, as Oz, an uptight dentist living in Montreal. When Jimmy "the Tulip" Tudeski (Willis), a former Chicago mob hitman and government informant moves in next door to Oz, Oz's money grubbing wife (Rosanna Arquette) insists that he fly to Chicago and rat on Jimmy in order to collect the sizable reward money being offered. Complications ensue when the Tulip learns of Oz's little trip. Willis delivers a typical Bruce Willis-like performance, attempting to give his character a fine balance between gruffness and charm, but it is Perry who carries this movie. Perry is a far more gifted physical comedian than he is given credit for, a trait that is put to good use here with his running into doors face first and the like generating several good laughs. Here's hoping that Perry's got another comedy coming out soon.
