During the 19th century, men who were hard of hearing would often affix a metal amplifier to their ears, much like one might see at the end of a trumpet. In Wild Wild West there was a character who wore one of these hearing aids. When that character was shot and killed, a little Jack Russell terrier walked up to the man's body and cocked his head at the metal amplifier, in much the same fashion as the RCA Victor dog. The reason I take the time to mention this particular fact is because it was the only halfway amusing moment in this entire film. No one, from the costume designers to the key grips should be proud of their work on director Barry Sonnenfeld's Civil War era sci-fi bomb. A mention of the fact that you own a copy of this film will get you arrested at most airport security check in counters.
