This is the difference between indie filmmaking and guerilla filmmaking. Indie filmmakers plan everything out carefully and hire stuntmen and stunt coordinators with the instructions that they are to do everything as cheaply (and safely) as possible. Guerilla filmmakers, like writer/director Toby Halicki (pictured in driver's seat), strap a camera to a 2" x 6', attach it to a car by tying the board to the side mirror with rope--protecting the paint with a washcloth--and shoot footage that way.
