THURSDAY - Today was definitely one of the more fun days I’ve had in awhile. It starts off at 6:30 when I wake up to work out, but nobody wants to read about that. My first appointment is at 10:00 AM with a PR firm,. I will be going through designer clothes to decide what I will be borrowing for all the events I have scheduled for the next few days. It doesn’t make much sense, but the clothes are at the PR firm.

I can’t speak for all actors, but I find free designer clothes to be one of the best perks of my job. I’ve never done this before and I’m so excited when I walk into the room and see racks of clothes and a woman named Amanda waiting to help me with everything. I try on tons of stuff…some of it looks fantastic, but some of it looks a little too "designer"…you know…the clothes that are so avant-garde that even the insanely gorgeous runway models don’t look quite right in them? There is one outfit that definitely makes me look like the offspring of a lost astronaut and a psychedelic hippie. But most of it is gorgeous and I end up borrowing 4 outfits…and Amanda throws in a couple extra choices in case I change my mind.

At 3:00 I have to go to my first ever television interview. It’s for a program on the G4 Network called Attack of the Show. Basically I play video games online with people at home while the hosts do different segments of the show. I have no idea what the game is called, but it’s one of those like Doom where you go around and try to kill people. I prefer MarioKart, thank you very much. In the middle of the show, one of the hosts comes over to me and we do a quick interview. I am absolutely horrible at the video game, but everyone is very nice and they assure me that all the guests are usually horrible at the game. The interview portion goes by very quickly, and seems to go well, but upon viewing the tape later, I discover that I was slouching very badly. It’s a bit ironic because my friends and family have always made fun of me for having great posture…even in cars I sit rod straight…guess the video game took it out of me. I’ll have to watch it in future interviews.

Finally it’s off to The House of Blues for the American Society of Young Musicians award show. Though the show stars at 8:00, I have to be there at 6:00. My husband meets me there and is amused to watch me walk down a red carpet for the first time. It’s not my first time down a red carpet, but it is his first time to see me do it. I thought I would be more embarrassed with him there, but I actually find it comforting to know he is standing just behind the frenzy of reporters in the press line.

I have my first bad experience with the press when one journalist gets mad at me for not dishing on Brad and Angelina. She basically tells me that I have no idea how to give a good interview, that she’s no longer interested in talking to me, and that nobody else is going to be interested in talking to me, either. Happily, she’s wrong and I go on to have several pleasant conversations down the press line.

At one point I look up and I see that one of the reporters has started talking to my husband…I go over to save him, but find that he’s perfectly comfortable doing the interview. It turns out that the reporter was a drummer and, as my husband is an incredible percussionist, they are talking mostly about drums. I’m not sure if I was even mentioned. Cute.

We finally head inside where we’re whisked up to the VIP lounge. We see the Goo Goo Dolls up there and I have to say that Johnny Rzeznik has the largest head I’ve ever seen. We don’t stay in the lounge for long before I have to go back downstairs to present an award. As I’m standing backstage, someone behind me asks, "What award are you presenting?" I turn around and see that Billy Bob Thornton has asked me the question. He’s there to present an award, too, and so we start chatting. We even talk about Angelina little bit…apparently they’re still friends. He’s very charming and charismatic in person and I’m a little sad that I have to go onstage and that our conversation has to end so soon. I don’t see him again for the rest of the night, but my husband and I have a blast and stay there until about midnight. I feel very lucky to have had all the experiences I’ve had today…cherry tomatoes and mean reporters included.
