Starring Craig Bierko, Gretchen Mol. Released to DVD on October 5, 1999.
A rather clever virtual reality (VR) thriller that is brought down by the woodenness of lead Craig Bierko's performance. Plotwise, the less you know about this film prior to watching it, the better; we'll give you this though: Douglas Hall (Bierko) is wanted for a murder he can't remember committing. An Alfred Hitchcock-like double chase thusly ensues. Unlike most VR thrillers, the structure of The Thirteenth Floor is clear and never once do you find yourself wondering if the characters are, or are not in the computer created landscapes. After eXistenZ this is an enormous positive.
