The usually talented Nicolas Cage stars here as a well-respected and discreet private investigator for the rich and famous. When he is called upon to learn whether an apparent snuff film is, in fact, authentic, things in his life change slightly as he thrusts himself into the world of hard-core, underground porn. Andrew Kevin Walkerís script is even more savagely graphic than was his script for Sevenóthe movie in which Brad Pitt is Fed-Exed his wifeís headóand the extent of Cageís acting comes from his looking at the floor and grimacing. 8MM tries very hard to be an intelligent action/thriller, but doesnít succeed on any level.
