Starring Jet Li. Released to DVD on November 9, 1999.
The stagnation in American action films has led American distributors to traverse the globe, searching for a new product to satisfy their now dissatisfied audience. The result is the emergence of supercharged Hong Kong action films like Supercop, Twin Dragons, and Black Mask; films where action, again, is king, and where directors go all out trying to please the audiences. In Black Mask, starring Lethal Weapon 4's Jet Li, there is some kind of story involving gangsters and android like humans, but this is merely an excuse for Li to go and kick lots of different people. The energy is crisp, the action well thought out, and Li's athleticism unparalleled when compared to the other action stars in Hollywood. For action fans, Black Mask will delight.
