Starring Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie, et al. Released to DVD on March 14, 2000.
As extrapolated at length in previous reviews, Denzel Washington is the man, possessing the charisma and panache of 50 stout men. This charm and beguiling nature cannot be silenced or diminished, even should Denzel's character be paralyzed from the neck down, as is the case here. Granted, a situation such as this could seem quite anti-climaticóoutside of falling on somebody, the possibility of a big fight scene involving Denzel is minimalóbut in the hands of The Bone Collector's director, Phillip Noyce, it turned out to be a rather engaging thriller. Denzel stars as Lincoln Rhyme, New York City's premiere forensics expert. After crawling under a leaning building he shouldn't have, Rhyme is paralyzed and retires from the police force. However, Rhyme is forced back into duty, as an advisor, when a spunky, large-breasted beat cop, Amelia Donaghy (Angelina Jolie) discovers the trail of a serial killer. The opposite of The General's Daughter, The Bone Collector was exciting and original, complete with a murderer whose identity wasn't given away in the opening scene.
