Starring Eddie Murphy, Steve Martin. Released to DVD on January 18, 2000.
There hasnít been a movie with such a stellar cast of comedians like Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy that, ultimately, delivered so few laughs since Murphyís last movie, Life. Martin stars here as low-budget producer Bobby Bowfinger. Stumbling upon mega producer, Jerry Renfro (Robert Downey Jr.). Renfro agrees to a deal with Bowfinger providing that Bowfinger manages to get Hollywoodís biggest star, Kit Ramsey (Eddie Murphy), to act in his production. And thus Bowfinger begins to film his movie without Ramseyís consent, having his actors go up to Ramsey and recite their lines. Martin is somewhat dry in the title role and Murphyís performances in dual roles are tepid. Outside of several gags involving the legs of Bowfingerís dog, there wasnít much to laugh at here.
