It would be quite easy to jump on the bandwagon associated with The Castle and call this film "this year's Full Monty", as scores of other critics have. However, to do this would effectively reduce the original and delightful nature of this movie. It would also be in poor taste because The Castle is set in Australia, a far more delightful and charming island than that of Britain. The Kerrigan family has carved out a nice little niche for themselves on a cheap lot they bought next to a major metropolitan airport. As Dale Kerrigan (Stephen Curry) mentions sprightly in the opening monologue, the land is worth almost as much as when they bought it. While the Kerrigans might not be the most cultured or intellectual family-patriarch Daryl (Michael Caton) clears his head by staring at power lines-they are a good hearted family with strong values. Thus when the airport decides it is going to expand and will need the Kerrigan property to do so, a complex legal battle ensues. Warm and enjoyable to a fault.
