I was recently approached by a friend of mine who chastised me for suggesting that she might enjoy the film Drive Me Crazy. After listening to her critique the movie using a variety of different synonyms for the word 'dumb', I stated that I had found the movie to be quite entertaining. Her response floored me: "It was really entertaining," she said, "but it was just so stupid!" And for those of you people like my friend--people who can be disappointed by watching an entertaining film--Centerstage is a movie that you should avoid at all costs. For the rest of us though, Centerstage is nothing if not a cuddly and likable teen film that closely examines the road to fame and fortune in the world of ballet. There are baby gorillas and harp seals that aren't this warm and cute.
