Working off of the success of Lake Placid, comes director Tobe Hooper's Crocodile. All big animal disaster movies have one of two recipes for success. Crocodile takes the high road. Instead of dealing with military scientists genetically experimenting on reptiles, Crocodile focuses on a croc that has just been left in popular East Coast resort town for roughly a century. Lying low for a hundred years, the croc in question dusts off the cobwebs that collected on him and gets ready for the upcoming spring break. With college boys and morally casual girls renting houseboats and partying hard, the scene is thusly set for the croc's ensuing rampage... especially after someone decides to mess with the croc's eggs. A tier above the normal big animal disaster movies, Crocodile was occasionally stupid fun, but suffers greatly from an ending where (spoiler alert) the damn crocodile isn't killed or dealt with in any way.
