In 7th grade, there was a time when I spent a good five minutes talking to a very cute girl, not knowing that I had split my pants when I had stood up from my desk. I relate this to you because, no matter how awkward and uncomfortable those five minutes turned out to be, they were far more enjoyable for me than watching Hugh Grant try to pronounce "fuhgeddaboutit" here in Mickey Blue Eyes. Grant stars as a lovable British guy with great hair, Michael Felgate, who has fallen in love with Gina Vitale (Jeanne Tripplehorn). Their relationship becomes far more complicated when Michael learns that Gina's father, Frank (James Caan), is the head of a Mafia family. The first hour of Mickey Blue Eyes was surprisingly fast paced and comedic, but this movie slacks off, and slacks off quickly in the second hour. Grant was much better in the more appealing Notting Hill.
