My assumption is that for most people, nothing says entertainment like the story of two junior high rejects that befriend one another. Like Rushmore though, The Mighty is an adult film about kids. Kieran Culkin, Macauley's little and still single brother, stars here as Kevin, a boy with a degenerative disease. Because of this, he is crippled and has to walk with crutches. When he befriends Max (Elden Ratliff) his rather slow-witted next door neighbor, Kevin no longer needs his crutches, as Max begins hoisting Kevin onto his shoulders. Together the two junior high nerds fancy themselves a knight and aim to do what they can to keep the streets of Cincinnati safe. Granted the plot sounds quite unorthodox, and by unorthodox I mean stupid, but the relationship between Kevin and Max, which makes up the majority of this film, is pure, sobering, and fun.
