David Duchovny stars as Bob Rueland, an architect married to Elizabeth (Joely Richardson) a primatologist working at the Lincoln Park Zoo. When Elizabeth is killed in a car crash, her heart is transpla.html>spla.html>spla.html>spla.html>splanted into the body of Grace (Minnie Driver). After Bob mourns the passing of his wife for a socially acceptable period of time, he meets Grace. And likes her. The plot of Return to Me is rather poor and contrived--the idea of a man ultimately dating the woman who received his dead wife's heart is ludicrous or stupid depending on which angle you choose to view the matter. However, Hunt's talents as a screenwriter and a director lie, not in producing good plotlines but in creating caring and lovable characters. This can be readily seen in Return to Me, as there are (please excuse the pun) numerous heartfelt actions between genuinely funny actors... in a stupid, but cute, setting. Duchovny performs well in his romantic lead, initially garnering our sympathy and soon our support as he begins to date Driver's Grace. A differently paced romantic comedy, Return to Me is a fun date movie, regardless of the plot. The decision to cast Jim Belushi as Hunt's on-screen husband was stellar.
