Robert DeNiro stars in Ronin as a top-notch thief who, along with several other professionals, has been contracted to steal a case. Who hired the team of thieves? What's in the case? What is the motivation for stealing the case? One never learns. This, in particular, bothered me, because, when watching films, I want to know what is in the the suitcase, and why people want to steal certain items. The car chases, which are the predominate trait in this film, both in terms of screen time and entertainment value, are well staged and exciting, but it ultimately goes for naught as I began not to care what DeNiro and company were doing. A few more plot points and character details would have helped this production immensely.
