Starring Bill Paxton, Bridget Fonda, et al. Released to DVD on June 22, 1999.

And so it was. When Hank (Bill Paxton), Jacob (Billy Bob Thornton) and Lou (Brent Briscoe) find a bag with more than $4 million in it, in a plane that has crashed in the Minnesota woods, the three agree to take the money, sit on it for a while, and then divvy it up equally. However, the situation hits the fan when Jacob and Lou decide A) that they want their shares of the money now and B) really, seriously, no fooling, they want their money now. Originally developed by director John Boorman (Deliverance), A Simple Plan was handed over to Sam Raimi some four weeks before principal photography was to start. With so little time to prepare, Raimi's normal hyper-kinetic style of direction seemed somewhat compromised. Combined with the rather lackadaisical script by Scott Smith, adapted from his novel of the same name, filled with stupid characters making unfathomably bad choices, A Simple Plain paled in comparison to the similarly dark, Affliction.
