In 1992, Rob Reiner created one of the best movies of decade, and his career, in A Few Good Men. Everything clicked for Reiner on that film; the acting was well done, the script was very tight and so on. On the other side of things is Reinerís 1999 film, The Story of Us, a film so bad it makes his 1994 film disaster, North, look artistic and refined. Bruce Willis and Michelle Pfeiffer stars as married couple Ben and Katie Jordan. While Ben and Katie were once in love, their marriage is currently a sham; they stay together simply and only because of their kids. After watching many devastatingly painful fights between the two, Ben and Katie ultimately decide to stay married because, as Katie basically says, "Why not?" When I watch a film, I do so because I want to be entertained. The Story of Us is anything but entertaining. This is one movie that seemed vehemently opposed to the possibility of happiness in the institution of marriage.
